Appointment Setter Jobs

Appointment setters fill a closer’s calendar. You work a list, a DM inbox or inbound leads, qualify people quickly, and book them onto a call. It is the most common way into commission sales work, and the fastest to learn.

    What the money looks like

Setter pay usually comes as a fee per qualified booked call, a percentage of the closer’s commission, or a small retainer plus one of those. Ask which one before you start — the difference between paying on booked calls and paying on shown calls is large.

The two kinds of setting work

    • DM setting — working Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn inboxes from content-driven lead flow
    • Outbound setting — cold calls, cold email or lists, closer to a traditional SDR role
    • Inbound setting — qualifying people who already filled in a form or replied to an ad

What good setters get measured on

    • Qualified calls booked per week
    • Show rate — the percentage who actually turn up
    • Close rate of the calls you hand over
    • Speed to first reply on a new lead

Setting as a route into closing

Most working closers started as setters. Six months of good setting gives you the objection handling, the call reps and the internal reputation to ask for a closing seat.

    Frequently asked questions

Do appointment setter jobs pay hourly?

Some do, but the majority of remote setting roles pay per booked or shown call, sometimes with a small retainer on top.

Do I need sales experience to be a setter?

Rarely. Companies care more about how fast you reply, how well you write, and whether you can follow a qualification script.

How many calls should a setter book a week?

It varies hugely by lead source, but 10–20 qualified calls a week is a common target for a full-time setter on healthy lead flow.
