    About this role

    Description

Go Vocal, a global GovTech scale-up, is looking for a purpose-driven Senior Business Development Manager to grow our client base across the United States. If you care deeply about strengthening democracy and know your way around the public sector, this role is for you.

You’ll be a key driver of our growth in the US market: opening doors with cities and counties, closing multi-year deals, and shaping how we go to market in the region.

    What will you do?

    Grow our client base

Own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and discovery to demos, proposals, procurement and closing.

Build lasting relationships with local government decision-makers: city managers, mayors, CIOs, communications, engagement and planning teams.

    Develop the US market

Source your own pipeline: spend a large share of your time on outreach, referrals, nurturing warm leads and events.

Bring structure and seniority to our go-to-market motion and help set the playbook for the NorthAm team.

    Collaborate cross-functionally

Work closely with the NorthAm team and with colleagues in Europe.

Share on-the-ground insights with Product, Marketing and Government Success to inform our broader strategy.

    Requirements

    Who are you?

7+ years working with or for local government (public-sector consulting, planning, community engagement, GovTech BD or partnerships, or launching a market at a startup), with clear commercial wins to show for it: contracts, partnerships, grants or revenue you brought in.

You might be a former planner, public-sector consultant, engagement practitioner or startup operator who has found you love building relationships and closing.

You are a consultative seller with an entrepreneurial mindset: autonomous, organized and process-driven, and resilient enough that long sales cycles and public-sector ambiguity don’t throw you off.

You are an excellent communicator who connects with people across channels and formats, from a first cold call to a council present

    Role Insights

Sales leadership roles require balancing individual contributor revenue with team performance management.

Expect to work with recurring revenue models where customer retention is as important as acquisition.

Remote positions in sales offer flexibility but require strong self-discipline and proactive communication with distributed teams.
